Laptop knocked over

My friend tripped over the cord of my laptop.  The laptop fell in the floor and now it will not turn on.  Anything I can do to troubleshoot before I take it in to the geek squad.

Do any lights come on on the laptop? Do you hear any sounds? Does anything at all show on the screen?
