Hi, could you recommend some good software that would help me find all the different copies of same files that are all over my computer. I have a few harddrives in my computer and I have a laptop and I have a flash drive and I have one of those harddrives that are on the outside of my computer.
I am trying to clean up my photo files and all of my documents. I think I have copies of my copies and ... well... What do you recommend?
I used to have the same problem! I would also agree with the last post, that your best bet would be to use foldermatch. Its pretty reasonably priced and definately does the job well, quickly and is easy to use.
I would definately suggest taking a look at it because you will be surprised how much space you could save!
That piece of software definately has a ton of options! Its useful for everything from finding duplicate files to renaming lists of files to comparing and synchronizing the files on your various drives. Its like a swiss army knife of file utilities.
They also have a piece of software called FolderClone that is a real easy backup solution. ... and everyone should be backing up.
Let us know how your duplicate file dilemma turned out!
I just wanted to let you know that I used the duplicate file finder in FolderMatch. It really was simple and I found a ton of files. I still have more to do, cause now I am feeling compulsive about cleaning and organizing my computer. I also found uses for the mass file renamer thing .... every time I download a picture from my camera it gives it a dumb name like dsx22204.jpg which makes no sense to me. Now I found that I can use that file renamer to call them something that is meaningful. Like hurricanefrances01.jpg and so forth. Cool software.. Thanks a lot Geek!
