Dell Inspiron 1100 CD / DVD GCC 4240N

I can play MP3s but I cannot play or read CDs.  When I put the CD in the drive, it spins then stops.  I have uninstalled the driver and reinstalled, still DVDs are okay, but not CDs.  Any thoughts?
