Cannot open files

Hello


I am new here and was hoping someone could help me. I cannot open any of the icons on my computer screen or anything from the programs menu. This happened because the other day my son logged on and there was a message asking wether to allow or block a long list of files, I can't say exactly what it said 'cause I didn't see it. He chose to block them all and now can't get into anything since. I have tried to get into system restore but can't do that either.


When I click on an icon e.g. Word, the message reads


    'Windows cannot open this file:


    file:  Microsoft office Word2003.Ink


    To open this file Windows needs to know what program created it.Windows can go online to      look it up automatically,or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer.


    What do you want to do?


    Use the web service to find the appropriate programme


    Select the programme from a list


Now, most of the things I can open by selecting from the list but others I don't know how. I thought if I could get into system restore I could put it right but I just don't know how to get into it any other way.


Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to either, open system restore or unblock everything?


Any help greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forums AuntyVi!


To do a system restore, go to start | Run | type 'rstrui.exe' (without quotes) and hit OK

If that doesnt work let us know and we will help you out!
