My computer is less than about 1 year old (old enough for the warranty to run out, of course). My 19 inch LCD monitor blew out about 4 months ago.  It had a strange set up, plugged into a power source, which in turn plugged into a subwoofer and speakers.  I am borrowing a monitor which does not have the same set up, it just has a plug  for the cpu and a power plug.  No matter what I do I can't get sounds to come out of the computer now, I can't listen my CD, I can't copy CDs etc.  Don't know what the problem is but its driving me crazy not to have sounds of any kind, driving me even more crazy not to be able to play or copy my cds!! Any help would be most appreciated.  AM A COMPLETE NOVICE WHEN IT COMES TO COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY, please have mercy on me!!
